This morning, we were lucky enough to have some of the lovely ladies from the University of Virginia’s chapter of Pi Beta Phi volunteer to spend some time with our third grade students. These three college students came to Johnson to spend the morning sharing books, laughs, and sunshine. Each group read two different books together, sharing comments and jokes underneath the trees in Johnson’s courtyard. As if that wasn’t enough, Pi Beta Phi brought a gift for each student – a free book to take home and keep! Once students received their gifts, they were given a few minutes to sit in a quiet, sunny spot and read. The spring weather and blooming trees were so beautiful today that I had to snap more than just one photo.
Thank you so much to the ladies of UVA’s Pi Beta Phi for spending time with us today!
