Have you heard?! The Learning Leopard Library’s Kiss the Pig Fundraiser has been featured in this month’s Charlottesville Family Magazine! On page 10, the Local Buzz News page, the bottom lefthand corner features a picture and a paragraph of text about our fabulous fundraiser.

“Johnson Elementary’s recent fundraiser was full of squeals. Librarian Sarah Messham challenged teachers to a “Kiss the Pig” contest. Students donated money to the staff member they most wanted to see pucker up. Gathered in the auditoruim to learn the final results, students were asked to shake their hands silently instead of cheering to keep from frightening the two potbelly piglets from Halfpint Hill Farm. Hands waved wildly when it was announced that third-grade teacher Ms. Croce tied with fourth-grade teacher Ms. Rickabaugh. The teachers each applied hot pink lipstick and gave the snorting piglets a smooch. With matching funds from Johnson’s PTO, more that $1,000 was raised to buy new books for the library.”

Thank you so much to Charlottesville Family Magazine for including our library in your Local Buzz! We are so proud and happy to be sharing our success with the Charlottesville community. Pick up your free copy of Charlottesville Family Magazine in Johnson’s lobby, near the office, or at one of many businesses around town. Or come and see the framed copy of the article that will be hanging on the wall in the library!
