I would give the book The Librarian of Basra: A True Story From Iraq by Jeanette Winter 5 stars because it is so inspiring and I love learning about the lives of people and places around the world through books. The book takes place in war-torn Iraq, and shows how the people came together to save the books in their local library. I had never read a book with a main character from Iraq, and was inspired by the librarian’s determination to save 30,000 books from being destroyed in the war. The story shows how important books are to people all around the world. This story definitely gave me a new perspective!

This book was written by Señora Roth, a St. Anne’s-Belfield School teacher. Señora Roth teaches Spanish to students in grades K-4.
