Happy birthday, Ruth Bader Ginsburg!

It just so happens that we’ve been reading about Ruth’s incredible life and impact this week as part of our ongoing conversations about Women’s History Month. Can your first graders spot RBG’s dissent collar in a crowd? Thanks to I Dissent, mine can! This brilliant picture book walks us through Ruth’s life by sharing her biggest disagreements – college is for boys; Jews aren’t welcome; only women can be caregivers. At the same time, it tackles BIG topics (gender inequality, anti-semitism, racism, sexism, and more) in bite-sized, straightforward, kid friendly terms. I loved the attention to how Ruth respects and remains friends with people who disagree with her. A perfect conversation starter for curious kiddos (and little ones who love to disagree!). 86 years old and still inspiring girls everywhere – thank you, RBG!
