November is Picture Book Month! As a part of our Picture Book Month celebration, the Johnson Elementary School Learning Leopard Library blog is searching for the best picture books around. I asked some of our staff members to share their favorite picture books with me, so that I could share them with you!
My favorite picture book is Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus, by Mo Willems. Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus was the first of what has become a series of Pigeon’s adventures, including getting a puppy, eating a cookie, and desperately trying to stay up past his bed time. This rowdy and hilarious story allows the reader and the audience to participate… and to laugh! Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus was published in 2003 and was named a Caldecott Honor Book that year. The animated version of the story was released in 2010, and won a Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Children’s Video.
