Have you seen some very hungry caterpillars making their way home in your students’ backpacks? Found a wild thing or two lying around the house? We’ve been sharing these classic stories this month for Picture Book Month, a celebration of all of the wonder and magic that picture books bring into our lives.
This November marks our second annual Picture Book Month celebration. Students and staff are invited to celebrate their love of picture books by coming to school dressed as their favorite picture book character on Tuesday, November 25th. Please remember, no makeup, hats, or weapons are allowed. Look for a flyer in your students’ backpack or folder this week.
This month, take a little bit of extra time to talk to your child about picture books and why they’re important to you. Tell them about your favorite books from your childhood or stories they loved as a baby! Maybe even check a few extra picture books out from the Johnson Library or JMRL to share together. It’s a great excuse to share a story!
I hope to see many of my favorite picture book characters at school on Tuesday! Learn more about Picture Book Month from the video above, or visit the official Picture Book Month website at http://www.picturebookmonth.com.
