You’ve heard me talk a lot on this blog about Books on Bikes (no really… a lot). It combines my very favorite things: books, exercise, popsicles, and the Charlottesville community. Biking with the Books on Bikes team is the best part of my summer every year, and I’m so excited to be introducing this amazing project to the St. Anne’s-Belfield School community. You can learn more about Books on Bikes by visiting our website or seeing the amazing work that my Quest group did for the organization this semester. Or you can come and meet us in person at our annual summer kickoff party – the Books on Bikes Bike Parade!
Each year, we gather a few hundred of our closest friends and party to celebrate the beginning of our summer season. From our littlest fans to our adult celebrity riders, everyone can roll along with us to kick off the start to another great summer giving books and popsicles to the Charlottesville community.
Consider this your official invitation to join us on Saturday, June 10th for bike decorating, bike and helmet safety checks, and a fun group bike ride that will end at the main branch of the Jefferson Madison Regional Library’s Summer Kickoff Party (which includes facepainting, snacks, and your chance to sign up for a library card and join the JMRL summer reading program!). It’s fun for the whole family, and we are firm believers in “the more, the merrier!” You only need two things: your very favorite, most fun adult, and a helmet if you’re planning on using anything with wheels. As urban bikers, we take safety very seriously!
Check out some of my favorite shots from our 2015 bash! Or go way back and look at 2014’s shots! This event is a great opportunity for us all to get together to celebrate summer, reading, and Books on Bikes. So come help us take our first ride of the 2017 summer reason in style. Send any questions my way by emailing me at firstname.lastname@example.org or via the contact page. I hope to see you there!
