Here it is, my middle school friends – the moment you have been waiting for. Are you already bored with your summer vacation? Making an epic list to take to the library to kick off your summer reading? Missing your hilarious and stunning librarian so much that you can’t help crying yourself to sleep at night? (I know, I know. It’s scary how well I know you.) Don’t worry, because we have prepared for this! As promised, here are the lists that you created to help chase away the summer-boredom blues.
Take a look at the Summer Reading Recommendations poster from the rising fifth graders with suggestions on the books that they loved over the course of the school year and think that you might love, too. Or if you’d rather search by genre, check out the summer reading recommendation lists that rising seventh grade and I created with Mr. Passmore. Find your favorite topic, like dystopian, save the world, drama, or sports, and see the titles that STAB middle schoolers loved. Or you could challenge yourself to try something completely new – flip a coin and read whatever it lands on, use it as a dartboard and read whatever you hit, or read your way through the whole thing! Whatever you do, you can’t go wrong with this list, because every single book has been middle school tested and approved.
I hope that these great titles help you to beat the summer boredom blues! Shoot me an email or connect with me on Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook and tell me what you’re loving, what you’re iffy about, and what you’re immediately forcing your friends to read so you have someone to talk to about it. And if you’re sharing your reading on social media, use #stabsummerreading so our awesome reading community can keep sharing recommendations through the summer months. And don’t forget to follow #stabsummerreading to see what your friends, teachers, and other STAB students are reading, too!
A wonderful idea and such a fantastic list! For next year, would you please consider adding PAPER WISHES by Lois Sepabhan and my book, THE LAST CHERRY BLOSSOM to your historical fiction? Thank you so much.
