Articles and news stories are constantly pushing me to consider something new, broaden my perspective, or change the way I look at an issue. My husband likes to joke that my brain explodes with something new on a daily basis. These articles – and the brain explosions that result from them – are so beneficial for me that I wanted to create a place where I could share them, in case you might want to read them, too. Learn more about Things that Made My Brain Explode – and see past posts – here.
Here’s a recent batch of Things that Made my Brain Explode:
- The University of Virginia won the NCAA Men’s Basketball National Championship this week. It has been joyful and surprisingly wholesome to watch the city come together to celebrate.
- “To be sure, Charlottesville and those who love the University of Virginia have a great reason to celebrate. These student-athletes overcame an unprecedentedly brutal 2018 tournament loss with focus, determination and poise in 2019. This is a remarkable feat that illustrates grace under pressure. What it is not is a reset button on history. It is not an excuse to resurrect the dangerous illusion of an idealized civil Charlottesville.” Thank you for sharing this piece, Paul.

- “But this doesn’t feel like a “usually” moment. This feels like a moment to draw a line in the sand. […] If you’re wearing my jersey at a game? Know that about me. If you’re planning to buy my jersey for someone else…… know that about me. If you’re following me on social media….. know that about me. If you’re coming to Jazz games and rooting for me….. know that about me. And if you’re claiming my name, or likeness, for your own cause, in any way….. know that about me. Know that I believe this matters.” Privileged.
