Insta Review: Bone, Out from Boneville by Jeff Smith fitzbetweentheshelvesBook Review, Reading, UncategorizedLeave a comment Insta Review gives you a new book recommendation in under a minute. Go ahead, time it! View this post on Instagram After years of watching students fight over the Bone books, I finally snagged a copy of Out of Boneville to read for myself. I was surprised by how rich the story was. Jeff Smith's comprehensive illustrations bring just as much to the page as his quirky, lilting text. Raised reading classic books, graphic novels are a challenge for me – I have to take each panel slowly, reading the text and then studying the illustration. Even with extra care, a lot of graphic novels go over my head. But Out from Boneville was somehow both complex and inclusive. Not appropriate for my younger readers (bloody battle scenes and minor sexual content mean I pry these out of second graders' hands daily), but a winner for grades three and up. #amreading #book #bookreview #librarian #library #elementaryschool #middlegrade #graphicnovel #bone #childrensliterature #kidlit A post shared by Ms. Fitz (she/her) (@fitzbetweentheshelves) on Nov 16, 2016 at 9:16am PST Share this: Click to share on X (Opens in new window) X Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Facebook Like Loading...
